Every pixel and animation in Grave Seasons is hand-made. When designing customization assets, developers animate them in up to 8 directions. These bespoke moments support multiple player interactions throughout the story. Hand-drawn sequences include reacting to a murder, sharing a kiss with a lover, and passing out from exhaustion. Each wearable item is animated into 70+ sprite sheets. These sprite sheets implement over 400 animations that can trigger throughout the game.

Hair Physics and Expressive Movement

The development team paid close attention to kinetic details during movement. Hand-animated details include dynamic hair bounce for every hairstyle. The art team crafted these animations to ensure outfits maintain visual clarity across different angles. Players navigate town streets and farm fields while their chosen appearance remains visually consistent.

Town Exploration and Character Identity

Your customized character navigates an unsettling rural community. Ashenridge is quite large with tons of things to explore from a bird’s eye view. More than 30 characters live across the town in unique homes. Players use farming, foraging, crafting, and investigation to uncover town secrets and ward off monsters. You can even break and enter into residential locations if you avoid getting caught.

Farm Buildings and Aesthetic Options

Visual customization extends beyond your personal wardrobe. Your farm sits at the very top of the mountain overlooking Ashenridge. In addition to personal clothing, players can upgrade tools and buildings on the farm. You can select potential aesthetic customization options for farm structures. Over 600 items can be collected, discovered, or crafted during your year in town.
